Our story

How it began.

The year was 2018.

Alex was throwing his annual New Year’s Eve party in Kansas City and a mutual friend invited Anne Elise while she was home from New York for the holidays. Maybe it was the afterglow of NYE or too many G&Ts, but neither of us remember much of that night, including meeting one another.

Our lives went back to normal, and we didn’t stay in touch that year, with Alex living in Kansas City and Anne Elise returning to life in NYC. However, at the same party in the same city the following year, we sealed our impending romance with a kiss and we’ve been each other’s new year’s kiss ever since.

We’re not making light of the pandemic, but it was the very impetus for us exploring our relationship and building our foundation. We navigated long-distance while also exploring our respective cities. Anne Elise discovered the beauty of a Bay Boy sandwich, and Alex joined Anne Elise and her friends as they stretched out on blankets in New York City’s finest parks.

It didn’t take long for us to realize that this was something special. In October 2024, at a vineyard in Weston, Alex popped the question.

We’re so happy to celebrate the life we’re building together with the people we love most, in the city we call home. They say Paris is the city of love, but have they ever visited KC? The evidence speaks for itself.
